The Chungnam Provincial Council announced on the 2nd a legislative notice for an ordinance aimed at expanding and efficiently utilizing distributed energy.
According to the council, the "Chungcheongnam-do Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Distributed Energy," proposed by Democratic Party member Koo Hyungseo, includes provisions for ▲establishing a basic plan for distributed energy ▲designating specialized zones for distributed energy ▲conducting surveys on the current status of distributed energy ▲supporting projects related to distributed energy ▲establishing communication and cooperation systems with local residents.
Distributed energy refers to a system where energy is produced or supplied directly in the area where it is consumed, minimizing the need for large-scale power plants or transmission networks and increasing the region's energy self-sufficiency.
The proposal of this ordinance comes in response to criticism that Chungnam lacks a response strategy following the implementation of the Special Act on the Promotion of Distributed Energy (Distributed Energy Act) passed last year.
Koo said, "In order to move away from a centralized power structure and increase the region's energy self-sufficiency, the promotion of distributed energy is essential," adding, "Through this ordinance, we hope Chungnam can play a leading role in the era of energy transition."
The ordinance will be reviewed at the 358th temporary session, which begins on the 8th.
