Korean History Instructor Jeon Han-gil Appears on Maeil Shinmun YouTube
"All Systems Will Be Normalized If President Yoon Returns"
"Park Hong-geun Says No Reason Is Needed, He Just Cannot Accept the Outcome"
With the impeachment trial verdict for President Yoon Suk-yeol scheduled for the 4th, Jeon Han-gil, a prominent 'anti-impeachment' figure and Korean history instructor, asserted that he is "100% confident it will be dismissed or rejected." On the 1st, Jeon stated in an interview with the Maeil Shinmun YouTube channel 'Ilta News' that "President Yoon will return to his duties, and all national institutions' systems will be normalized."
Regarding the Constitutional Court's designation of the verdict date, Jeon said, "All the current chaos is the result of the Democratic Party breaking the rule of law, fairness, and common sense, leading to self-inflicted harm." He added, "They have been rushing with the sole purpose of making Lee Jae-myung president as soon as possible to reduce the judicial list against him, thereby destroying fairness, the rule of law, and common sense."
When the host asked, "There are also doubts about whether the Democratic Party will accept the outcome when it is announced," Jeon responded, "A month ago, I said, 'If the Constitutional Court accepts and dismisses the impeachment in this state, I, Jeon Han-gil, absolutely cannot accept it,' which is somewhat different from the claim of Democratic Party lawmaker Park Hong-geun." He pointed out, "Park said, 'No reason is needed; I just cannot accept it.'"
Earlier, Park had stated on his social media, "If the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol is dismissed without resolving the unconstitutional situation regarding the composition of the Constitutional Court (due to the non-appointment of candidate Ma Eun-hyuk), the Democratic Party, opposition parties, and civic groups must officially declare that they will never accept it." He emphasized, "If the impeachment is dismissed, that is precisely when we must inherit the 4.19 democratic ideology of resistance against injustice, as stated in the preamble of our Constitution, and launch a massive and desperate resistance with the people."
In response, Jeon said, "It has become known to the public that Justice Moon Hyung-bae has many issues. Justice Lee Mi-sun's younger sister is calling for the president's resignation, and Justice Jung Kye-seon’s husband is advocating for impeachment." He added, "I called them unjust justices." Furthermore, he said, "To impeach President Yoon, they removed the complicated charge of rebellion. About 80% of the impeachment charges were related to rebellion, but after removing that, only 20% remain." He added, "Based on the spirit of the April 19 Revolution, which resisted injustice, it is right to resist."
"If Yoon Returns, Parliament Should Be Dissolved and Early Elections Held"

Jeon emphasized, "President Yoon mentioned shortening his term. Upon his return to office, the National Assembly should be dissolved promptly, and early elections should be held." He added, "I firmly believe that a constitutional amendment for a four-year two-term presidency must be made."
Regarding his future plans, Jeon said, "Many comments say things like 'Jeon Han-gil is trying to enter politics now,' or 'He wants to become a member of the National Assembly,' or 'He is trying to get a nomination from the People Power Party,' but I have said many times before that I will not go into politics." He continued, "After serving as an instructor for 26 years, I thought about what I could do well and how I could meet the demands of the 2030 youth, and I decided to create a communication space for them." He added, "That is the media."
On the same day, news emerged that Jeon had co-authored a book with President Yoon. Lawyer Shin Pyeong announced on social media, "'New Republic of Korea' will be published soon," adding, "Pre-orders will be available by April 10 at the latest." According to Shin, the book includes contributions from President Yoon, People Power Party lawmakers Kim Ki-hyun, Na Kyung-won, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Cho Jung-hoon, former spokesperson Baek Ji-won, and others. Additionally, 12 people collaborated on the book, including constitutional law scholar Professor Lee In-ho of Chung-Ang University, Professor Shim Kyu-jin of Spain's IE University, lawyers Shin Pyeong and Do Tae-woo, writer Bok Geo-il, and Jeon Han-gil.
