Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) will hold the "My Tree Planting" event on the 3rd at the Yu Gwan-sun Martyrs' Joint Burial Site in Mangwoo History and Culture Park to commemorate the 80th Arbor Day.

This event is part of the "My Tree Planting Project," which the district is promoting together with the Nak-i Mangwoo Social Cooperative and the Life Forest Association. A total of 1,063 trees, including hydrangeas and lilacs (Syringa), donated by residents, will be planted together with the tree donors and local residents.

In particular, the area around the Yu Gwan-sun Martyrs' Joint Burial Site, where the trees will be planted, will be developed into a "Garden of Patriotism" to honor the spirit of those who devoted themselves to the country and to create a meaningful space where history and nature harmonize.

The "My Tree Planting Project" is a program where residents directly plant and manage trees they have donated in Mangwoo History and Culture Park, where modern and contemporary figures rest in peace. Last November, the district signed an agreement with the Nak-i Mangwoo Social Cooperative and the Life Forest Association to enrich the park's ecological environment while promoting it as a space where history and culture come alive.

According to the memorandum of understanding, ▲Jungnang-gu Office is responsible for selecting planting sites and tree species and reviewing donations, ▲Nak-i Mangwoo Social Cooperative handles project planning, promotion, and guidance, and ▲the Life Forest Association manages fundraising and operates the tree donation website.

Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu said, "Mangwoo History and Culture Park is a space imbued with the significance of modern and contemporary history as well as a natural area with high ecological value. I hope this will be a meaningful time for donors and residents to plant trees together and feel affection and pride for the park."

Mangwoo History and Culture Park is a representative cherry blossom spot in Jungnang-gu. The district plans to continuously maintain the park as a healing space that reflects the seasons by creating areas such as the "Mangwoo Hydrangea Path," where hydrangeas bloom in summer.
