Securing 100 Million Won in Project Funds Through Outstanding Tax Administration Performance
Geochang County in Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 2nd that it has received the Excellence Award for the second consecutive year in the ‘2025 Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation’ conducted by Gyeongsangnam-do for 18 cities and counties in the province.
This evaluation was based on 22 items across 7 categories, including local tax imposition and collection, delinquent tax management, local tax investigations, local tax reviews, non-tax revenue, and general tax administration. Geochang County was honored with the Excellence Award in recognition of its outstanding tax administration and efficient tax revenue management capabilities.
Amid a deepening local financial crisis due to a decrease in national tax revenue and a subsequent reduction in local allocation tax, Geochang County has worked to secure its own financial resources by identifying omitted tax sources through planned tax audits and holding departmental meetings to minimize delinquent taxes.
In addition, the county has improved the accuracy of tax imposition and collection by holding job training and workshops for local tax officials, enhanced taxpayer convenience by introducing local tax refund services via KakaoTalk channel, and implemented mobile electronic notifications for local tax and non-tax revenue delinquencies.
County Governor Koo Inmo stated, “Receiving the Excellence Award for two consecutive years is thanks to the active cooperation of our residents,” and added, “We will continue to develop various tax administration policies to create a trustworthy tax environment for our citizens.”
