Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Promotes Korea's Charm to the World with Foreign Residents in Korea

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 2nd that, together with the International Broadcasting Exchange Foundation, it will hold the '2025 Taste, Style, Rest: Five Senses Satisfied K-Culture' event to support foreigners residing in Korea in visiting key 'K-Culture' regions, experiencing Korean culture, and promoting its charm worldwide.

The Five Senses Satisfied K-Culture event is scheduled to be held five times from April to October. The first event will take place from the 5th to the 7th in Gimpo and Ganghwa, Gyeonggi Province. Under the theme 'K-Romantic Route,' it will offer various opportunities to experience Korean culture that evoke the romance of rivers and the sea. Subsequent events will follow in hidden gems such as Donghae and Samcheok (May 23?25), Gyeongju (May 26?28), Muju and Jinan (September), and Gongju and Buyeo (October).

Foreign participants residing in Korea will experience Korean culture over a 2-night, 3-day period centered on taste (gastronomy), style (art), and rest (experience). Based on their experiences, they will create video content reflecting their individual personalities and share it with overseas viewers through their personal social networking services (SNS). Through this, foreigners in Korea will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Korean culture and build affinity, while the original content they produce will offer a fresh perspective on Korea’s image.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to upload videos documenting each event on Arirang TV and the Korea.net YouTube channel. Additionally, after all events conclude this year, a broadcast program introducing the diverse activities of the participants will be produced and aired worldwide via Arirang TV.

Cooperation with overseas broadcasters to enhance promotional effects is also underway. A production team from Mongol TV, a private broadcaster in Mongolia, will participate in the event to produce a program introducing Korean culture, which will be broadcast locally in Mongolia. The ministry stated that discussions for co-productions and local broadcasts with other overseas broadcasters are actively progressing.

Details on the annual schedule of the Five Senses Satisfied K-Culture event and participant recruitment can be found on the official website.

A policy official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, "'K-Culture' has now become a globally recognized term reflecting the elevated status of Korean culture, but there are still many attractive elements that remain unknown. Through this project, we hope that foreigners residing in Korea will directly experience the essence of Korean culture and serve as messengers to widely promote it."
