‘Busan as a Global Hub City and the Future of Busan’s Youth’

Dong-Eui University (President Han Suhwan) held a special lecture on April 1 at the Seokdang Art Hall in the International Building, inviting Park Hyungjoon, Mayor of Busan.

With the theme "Busan as a Global Hub City and the Future of Busan’s Youth," the lecture was attended by President Han Suhwan, Student Council President Park Seonghoo, as well as about 450 students and faculty members.

In his lecture, Mayor Park emphasized, "For the sustainable development of Korea, it is necessary to develop regional hub cities rather than focusing only on the metropolitan area," adding, "Busan has outstanding potential as a global hub city, being the world's second-largest transshipment port and the seventh-largest container port."

Mayor Park further stressed, "To make Busan a global hub city, the development of logistics, finance, and digital high-tech industries is essential. Universities and companies in Busan, the city government, and especially the youth of the region must unite to elevate these sectors to a world-class level."

Finally, he promised the students, "The city of Busan will increase quality jobs, enhance cultural content to create attractive living conditions, and implement various youth policies to establish the stage for a global hub city." He encouraged, "Let the youth of the region take the lead in innovating Busan and building a sustainable Korea."

On the same day, before the lecture, Mayor Park Hyungjoon had lunch with university students at the Dong-Eui University cafeteria and visited the campus cherry blossom festival, where he had an open conversation with the youth.
