Gijang County in Busan to Distribute Smart Devices to Prevent Missing Persons with Developmental Disabilities

Apply in Person at Eup or Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers by April 11
Smart Devices Provided with Two Years of Free Communication Service

Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) is implementing a smart device support project to prevent the disappearance of people with developmental disabilities and to support their safe daily lives, and is recruiting applicants for the program until the 11th.

This project will select 32 local individuals with developmental disabilities (intellectual or autistic) based on income, participation in outside activities, and care gaps, and will provide them with smart devices and two years of free communication service.

The distributed smart devices are equipped with built-in location trackers and can be chosen in the form of GPS-embedded shoe insoles or wristwatches, tailored to the needs of people with developmental disabilities. If the user leaves a designated area or exits a safety zone set by their guardian, the device immediately notifies the guardian to allow for a quick response in case of emergency.

Additionally, the devices offer healthcare features such as SOS emergency calls, heart rate monitoring, oxygen saturation, and fall detection, helping to create a safe and healthy living environment for people with developmental disabilities.

Applications can be submitted in person at the local Eup or Myeon Administrative Welfare Center until April 11. For further inquiries regarding the project, please contact the Gijang-gun Senior and Disabled Welfare Division.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, stated, "We expect this project will help prevent missing incidents involving people with developmental disabilities and ease the caregiving burden on families," and added, "We will actively support the creation of an environment where people with developmental disabilities and their families can live safely and healthily in the local community."
