Gwangju Urban Corporation (President Kim Seungnam) announced on the 1st that it participated in the 'Relay Campaign' to raise awareness about population issues.

This campaign was jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Human Resources Development Institute for Health and Welfare. Under the slogan, "Let us strive to make Korea a country where children are happy, youth nurture hope, and the elderly find fulfillment," it was launched to draw social attention to the issues of population decline and aging in the region. The campaign has been spreading nationwide since last October, starting with Lee Kiil, the First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

President Kim Seungnam participated in the campaign after being nominated by the President of the Gwangju Social Service Institute, and in turn nominated Park Byungcheol, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch of the Korean Red Cross, and Koo Kilyong, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch of the Planned Population Federation of Korea, as the next participants.

Gwangju Urban Corporation is implementing various policies to address local population issues and improve settlement conditions. In particular, the corporation is actively promoting the supply of public rental housing, customized housing support, and housing welfare projects tailored to different life stages to ensure residential stability for young people and newlyweds. Additionally, through projects such as the 'Nugunajib' in Nam-gu's Energy Valley and the 'Gwangju-type Integrated Public Rental Housing' in Sangmu District, the corporation is working to create a stable residential environment.

President Kim Seungnam stated, "Solving population issues requires the active interest and efforts of the local community," and added, "Gwangju Urban Corporation will do its best to create a city where young people want to stay and a sustainable city where population and industry grow together."

He further commented, "I hope that through this campaign, citizens and related organizations will communicate and seek solutions together."
