New Slogan Announced

Gwangju City has announced a new slogan for Hyoryeong Senior Welfare Town, celebrating its 15th anniversary.
On the 1st, Gwangju City held a '15th Anniversary Ceremony' at Hyoryeong Senior Welfare Town in Buk-gu. The event reflected on the 15-year journey of Hyoryeong Town and reaffirmed its commitment to a future together with the local community.
More than 1,000 people attended the ceremony, including Mayor Kang Gijung, Gwangju City Council Chairperson Shin Sujeong, Gwangju Superintendent of Education Lee Jeongseon, members of Hyoryeong Senior Welfare Town, and local residents.
During the event, the newly selected slogan through a public contest, "Dignified Senior Life, Warm Companionship! Hyoryeong Senior Welfare Town," was officially announced, highlighting the role and value of the welfare town in supporting the happiness of seniors. In addition, Gwangju City Mayor's Commendation was awarded to staff members Park Kwan-yong and Seo Hyung-seon, as well as exemplary citizens Jo Jae-tae, Jeon Hye-sook, and Noh Gam-cheon, who contributed to the development of Hyoryeong Town and volunteer activities.
Mayor Kang Gijung stated, "When our seniors are bright, healthy, and energetic, our society becomes brighter and healthier as well. Following Bitgoeul Town and Hyoryeong Town, we are beginning the construction of a senior town in Gwangsan-gu as well. Gwangju will do its utmost to become the most livable city for seniors and set the standard for senior welfare in Korea."
Meanwhile, Hyoryeong Senior Welfare Town is a specialized facility for senior employment projects, with over 14,590 registered members and an average of 1,200 seniors using the facility daily. There are 423 participants in 10 senior employment and social activity support teams. The center operates 89 classes in 59 types of senior socialization education programs and offers various facilities such as a park golf course and a small library.
