Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 1st that it secured its first victory of the 2025 season in the KUSF University Basketball U-League Women's Division regular season after three games.
The Gwangju University basketball team, led by head coach Guk Seonkyung, invited Suwon University to its home court on the 1st and, after a fierce back-and-forth battle until the final whistle, won 65-61.
Jeong Chaeryeon, who orchestrated Gwangju University's play, played the full 40 minutes, recording 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists. With the team barely ahead by two points just before the end of the game, she made a crucial steal during Suwon University's final attack and followed it up with a fast-break basket to secure the win for her team.
Additionally, Im Gyodam contributed solidly under the basket with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks, while Yang Yujeong, An Seoyeon, and Jo U also each scored in double digits to help secure the team's victory.
After struggling with consecutive losses to Busan University and Dankook University at the start of the season, Gwangju University finally achieved its long-awaited first win. The team now aims to climb into the mid-table with the fourth-round league match against Gwangju Women's University at home at 2 p.m. on the 4th.
