"Classic Example of Political Prosecution's Dark History... Fabricated Investigation"
"Inventing Crimes to Disgrace a Former President"
Former Blue House aides strongly opposed the prosecution's summons of former President Moon Jae-in as a suspect in a bribery case, calling it a "prosecutor's reckless sword dance." This is the first time since President Moon's term ended that most senior secretaries, including chief secretaries, have jointly issued a statement.
According to political circles on the 1st, Moon Jae-in government Blue House aides (including the Chief of Staff, National Security Office Chief, Policy Office Chief, Security Office Chief, Senior Secretaries, and spokespersons) issued a condemnation statement in the afternoon, stating, "The prosecution's investigation into former President Moon is a ruthless political oppression."
They said, "Just looking at the series of cases investigated and prosecuted by the prosecution against the previous administration and opposition party, which have all resulted in non-prosecution and acquittals, proves how unjust and excessive the prosecution's investigations and indictments were," adding, "They are fabricating crimes to disgrace a former president and attempting to politicize the people's and history's judgment on the December 3rd rebellion."
They defined the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office's investigation of former President Moon as a "typical case of political prosecution's dark history," and said, "The political prosecutors fabricate nonexistent crimes for political exploitation, divide public opinion, waste national power, and further degrade the nation's dignity. They must apologize a hundredfold before the people for their misdeeds."

Earlier that day, the Democratic Party's Committee for Countermeasures Against Political Oppression of the Previous Administration visited the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office, which is investigating former President Moon, and directly criticized, "The prosecution is conducting an investigation into former President Moon based on the bizarre logic that the salary received by his former son-in-law is a bribe."
The committee said, "The traitor of the rebellion, Yoon Seok-yeol, was released by 'giving up the appeal,' and the prosecution, which has not even properly investigated Kim Geon-hee, who is suspected of receiving a Dior bag, is dancing a reckless sword dance against the previous administration," adding, "The political prosecutors, who have become servants of power and led political oppression, will ultimately face only ruin."
They continued, "The prosecution has been zealously oppressing the previous administration with a mindless attitude of 'just catch one,' emphasizing that the abuse of prosecutorial power throughout President Yoon's term?including investigations into the West Sea civil servant shooting incident, the East Sea heinous crime involving the deportation of defectors, and the Wolseong nuclear power plant case?was mercilessly carried out against the former president's family as well."
They also said, "We clearly warn the political prosecutors. The traitor of the rebellion, Yoon Seok-yeol, will definitely be dismissed and held criminally responsible accordingly," adding, "The prosecution's goal to create a prosecutor republic to protect him will never be achieved."
They then said, "The political prosecutors' intentions have already been revealed, and the attempt to oppress the previous administration has failed," urging, "(The prosecution) should stop using the previous administration as a last-ditch effort to protect the Yoon Seok-yeol government. Immediately cease the excessive investigations against the previous administration."
