The relief supplies provided this time are intended to help disaster victims who have lost their homes and are currently staying in temporary shelters due to the large wildfire that has not been extinguished for over a week.
Hadong County and Sancheong County, together with Gurye County, are neighboring communities forming the Jirisan Area Tourism Development Association, which consists of six cities and counties (Gurye, Hadong, Sancheong, Hamyang, Namwon, Jangsu). Since 2008, they have fostered friendship through mutual tourism cooperation projects and private exchanges.
Governor Kim Sunho said, "Hadong County and Sancheong County are neighboring communities sharing Jirisan. I offer my condolences to the victims of this wildfire and send comfort to the disaster victims in both regions," adding, "I hope stability will be restored quickly through prompt recovery efforts."
He continued, "I also ask everyone to strictly follow wildfire prevention guidelines, such as prohibiting the burning of agricultural by-products and carrying fire sources when entering the mountains, to prevent further wildfires."
Meanwhile, the wildfire in Sancheong, Gyeongnam, broke out in Sicheon-myeon on March 21 and spread to nearby cities and counties such as Hadong and Jinju, eventually reaching Jirisan National Park. In response, Gurye County entered an emergency situation, thoroughly checking resident evacuation plans and strengthening monitoring and public awareness activities.
