JSCO Holdings announced on the 1st that it has completed a barge docking port for nickel ore transportation along the Legazpi River in the Dinagat region of the Philippines.

A completion ceremony for the Legazpi River barge docking port was held with representatives from the Baoli Group, Panhe Group, and Philippine government officials in attendance. JSCO Holdings expects that with the completion of the barge docking port, an essential infrastructure for nickel ore exports has been established, which will enhance its competitiveness in the global nickel market.

The newly completed mineral transport port was constructed at three times the originally planned scale, thanks to the active cooperation and support of the Philippine government. It is located along the Legazpi Riverbank adjacent to the Dinagat mine’s Zone D, where mining is currently underway. The port, covering approximately 23,000 to 26,000 square meters (about 8,000 pyeong), is a large-scale facility capable of simultaneously docking and loading six 3,500-ton barges. Operating twice daily, it can transport about 42,000 tons of nickel ore per day.

Additionally, it is situated just about 3 km in a straight line from the Pacific coast port, maximizing transportation efficiency. The short transport distance is advantageous for reducing logistics costs as well as enabling fast loading and global exports.

Recently, JSCO Holdings successfully completed on-site inspections of the nickel mine with China’s Baoli Group and Panhe Group. In particular, Panhe Group conducted a direct inspection of the Legazpi River port and gave high evaluations regarding transportation stability and cost reduction, raising expectations that efficient nickel ore export networks can be established through future strategic cooperation.

A company representative stated, “With the completion of this port, we have laid the foundation for expanding the global nickel supply chain,” adding, “As the signing of the main contract with China’s Baoli Group is imminent, the completion of the port will allow us to quickly coordinate the details of the main contract.”
