Over 12,000 Donations and 1.6 Billion KRW Raised in Seven Days
Through Welfare Foundation and Hometown Love Contributions
As donations from various sectors continue to pour in, hope for recovery is beginning to sprout in Yeongdeok-gun, which suffered the worst damage from the wildfire that spread from Uiseong-gun, North Gyeongsang Province.
Shin Taeyong, former head coach of the Indonesian national football team and a native of the region, visited Yeongdeok-gun on the 30th of last month and donated 50 million KRW. Park Mongyong, CEO of Shin Youngdeok Wind Power and Hwanam Group, also a local entrepreneur, donated 50 million KRW on the 1st.

As of the 1st, wildfire recovery donations made to Yeongdeok-gun amount to 156 general donations totaling approximately 365.57 million KRW through the Yeongdeok Welfare Foundation, and 12,034 donations totaling approximately 1.236 billion KRW through the Hometown Love Donation, bringing the total to 12,190 donations and about 1.6 billion KRW.
Kim Gwangyeol, the county governor, expressed his gratitude, saying, "The seeds of hope you have sent, transcending regions and classes, are giving victims the strength to rise again. We will do our utmost to overcome the current pain and scars by mobilizing all the capabilities and administrative power of the local community, so as not to disappoint your support and encouragement."
