Chosun University Hospital (Director Kim Jin-ho) announced on the 1st that it has recently introduced and begun full operation of the latest model of a 3-atmosphere single-person hyperbaric oxygen chamber (IBEX M2).

The hospital recently relocated its hyperbaric oxygen therapy room to the 2nd floor of the hospital's 3rd building. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a treatment method that maximizes therapeutic effects for various diseases by allowing patients to inhale nearly 100% pure oxygen in an environment with more than 2 atmospheres of pressure, which increases the concentration of dissolved oxygen in body fluids by up to 10 to 15 times.

The hyperbaric oxygen therapy device is used to treat a variety of conditions, including cancer, stroke or traumatic brain injury, carbon monoxide poisoning, burns, decompression sickness, gas embolism, diabetic foot, sudden hearing loss, and radiation-induced skin necrosis.

Chosun University Hospital has been providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy for acute and delayed complications caused by carbon monoxide poisoning, as well as for burns and post-surgical wound treatment, using its hyperbaric oxygen therapy facilities. However, as the previous device became outdated over time, the hospital replaced it with a new, state-of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen therapy device and relocated the facility to a new space.

Director Kim Jin-ho stated, "We are now able to provide a better treatment environment for patients who need hyperbaric oxygen therapy," and added, "Chosun University Hospital will continue to do its utmost to fulfill its role and responsibilities as a regional hub hospital."
