The Asia Culture Center (ACC, Acting Director Kim Sangwook) announced on the 1st that it will hold the "ACC Regional Artist Invitational Exhibition - Lee Lee Nam's Landscape Theater" at Complex Exhibition Hall 5 until July 6.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the ACC has organized "Lee Lee Nam's Landscape Theater" to reflect on the time spent with the local community, highlighting Lee Lee Nam, a prominent artist from the Gwangju-Jeonnam region. Born in Damyang, Jeollanam-do, Lee Lee Nam is a world-renowned media artist based in Gwangju, recognized for presenting media art that combines classical calligraphy and painting with digital technology.

Lee Lee Nam has maintained a continuous relationship with the ACC, participating in numerous exhibitions such as the opening festival performance "Second Edition (2015)", the creative and production center lecture program "ACT Lecture", the outdoor exhibition "Hani Landscape", and most recently, the collaborative exhibition with the Korean Cultural Center in China, "Everyone's Peach Blossom Land".

While the artist has previously focused on abstract works exploring the essence of self through Eastern aesthetics, this exhibition presents media art that captures a nostalgic gaze toward his hometown, encompassing traditional landscape paintings, the natural scenery of Honam, and memories with family. The exhibition consists of 24 new works across six themes: ▲The Landscape Where I Lived ▲Mother and the Mountain ▲Hometown Landscape ▲Father's Waterfall ▲Landscape Theater ▲Light of Hometown.

In particular, Byeongpung Mountain in Damyang and the Yeongsan River flowing through various parts of Jeollanam-do in the works evoke nostalgia for local visitors to the ACC, while the combination of familiar landscape painting and real scenery offers a sense of familiarity even to visitors new to the region.

Lee Lee Nam stated, "The exhibition title 'Landscape Theater' originated from the experience of empathizing with various lives while watching performances with strangers," adding, "I hope visitors can reminisce and share memories of their hometown as they stroll through the 'Landscape Theater.'"

Kim Sangwook, Acting Director of the Asia Culture Center, said, "Just as our ancestors sought to enjoy landscapes in their daily lives, we hope that visitors can take time to explore the nature of their hometown in Lee Lee Nam's 'Landscape Theater.' Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the ACC continues to support the creative and production activities of local artists and strives to foster a sense of community with local residents through art."
