GS Construction Completes Southeast Asia's First Comprehensive Railway Testing Center in Singapore Overview of the Singapore Rail Test Centre (SRTC). Provided by GS Engineering & Construction

GS Engineering & Construction has completed the Singapore Rail Test Centre (SRTC), becoming the 10th in the world and the first comprehensive rail test center in Southeast Asia.

GS E&C announced on the 1st that it has completed the Singapore Rail Test Centre (C190) in western Singapore. The completion ceremony was held locally in Singapore on the 28th of last month, attended by representatives including the client, Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA), and Cho Seong-han, head of GS E&C's Infrastructure Business Division.

The newly completed Singapore Rail Test Centre was built on a total area of 540,000㎡, integrating various power supply methods, vehicle specifications, and systems from multiple urban rail lines within Singapore. Three new test tracks with a total length of 16.9 km were established within a single facility to test durability, performance, interoperability, and maximum speed capabilities. Additionally, the project included the construction of 10 buildings, including a comprehensive management building and a control center.

The center will play a role in identifying and resolving potential issues that may arise during urban rail operations by conducting various tests and inspections when new vehicles are introduced to existing Singapore lines.

This project was awarded by the Singapore Land Transport Authority, and GS E&C utilized various construction technologies to complete the work. To ensure constructability and superior quality, precast concrete (PC) structures were manufactured off-site and installed on-site for bridge superstructures, building columns, and exterior walls.

By employing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D modeling, potential interferences at the construction site were identified in advance to minimize risks. As a result, the project achieved 14 million hours without accidents and was completed on schedule with excellent quality.

A GS E&C official stated, "The successful completion of this challenging project has recognized our technical capabilities as a global rail construction company," adding, "We will strive to elevate the status of Korean construction companies in overseas markets based on the overseas construction technology success in Singapore."
