Siheung City in Gyeonggi-do announced on the 1st that the Siheung Senior Welfare Center was selected as an A grade in the '2024 Gyeonggi-do Social Welfare Facility Evaluation.'
The social welfare facility evaluation is conducted every three years by facility type according to the Social Welfare Services Act. This evaluation was based on the operational performance of the past two years, which had been deferred due to COVID-19.
The evaluation consisted of categories such as ▲facility and environment ▲finance and organizational management ▲programs and services ▲user management ▲overall facility operation, and the Siheung Senior Welfare Center received an A grade in all evaluation areas, the city explained.
Lee Seon-mi, director of the Siheung Senior Welfare Center, said, "This evaluation is the result of efforts to provide better welfare services to the elderly," adding, "We will continue to do our best to improve senior welfare."
Opened in 2010 at 765 Neunggok-dong, Siheung, the Siheung Senior Welfare Center has maintained an A grade for four consecutive times from 2015 to last year.
Meanwhile, the city is constructing the 'Southern District Senior Welfare Center' at 1799-4 Jeongwang-dong to improve senior welfare in the southern area, where accessibility to the existing welfare center is low. The newly built welfare center will have a total floor area of 4,998㎡, spanning from one basement floor to four above-ground floors, and is scheduled to be completed in June. The welfare center will be equipped with facilities such as offices, an auditorium, program rooms, a physical therapy room, counseling rooms, a lounge, and a cafeteria.
