Yoo Sang-im, Minister of Science and ICT, announced on the 1st that he held a video call with Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Director Kratsios began his term after being confirmed by the U.S. Senate on the 25th of last month. During the first Trump administration, he served as the U.S. Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.
Minister Yoo congratulated Director Kratsios on his appointment and requested support to ensure that the ongoing science and technology cooperation between the governments and research institutions of South Korea and the United States continues smoothly.
In response, Director Kratsios reaffirmed that South Korea is a key partner of the United States and emphasized the importance of strengthening science and technology cooperation. The Ministry of Science and ICT reported that both sides agreed to maintain close communication to expand science and technology cooperation for mutual benefit.
