County and Post Office Sign Agreement for 'Safe Care Postal Service'
Haenam County in Jeonnam Province (Governor Myung Hyun-gwan) has signed a business agreement with Haenam Post Office for the 'Safe Care Postal Service'.
According to the county on the 1st, this agreement aims to regularly send safe mail (parcels) to elderly people living alone and others at high risk of solitary death. Postal workers will deliver the mail in person and also check on the well-being of the recipients during delivery.

A total of 60 million KRW, including national and county funds as well as contributions from the Post Office Public Interest Foundation, will be invested to deliver safe mail packages containing daily necessities and household items once or twice a month. During delivery, postal workers will hand over the mail directly to the recipients and simultaneously check on their living conditions and well-being.
The county plans to use returned mail data and postal workers' reports to connect recipients to customized welfare services for households in crisis. At the business agreement ceremony held on the 28th of last month, Son Myung-do, Deputy Governor of Haenam County, Kim Sook-young, Head of Haenam Post Office, and others attended and agreed to closely cooperate in checking on vulnerable groups through postal delivery.
Kim Sook-young, Head of Haenam Post Office, stated, "The well-being care postal service is a valuable project for protecting vulnerable groups, and we will actively communicate with the working staff to ensure the successful operation of the project in cooperation with Haenam Post Office."
Son Myung-do, Deputy Governor of Haenam, said, "We expect the safe mail service to reduce welfare blind spots and enhance the safety and well-being of local residents."
