Introducing Paid ChatGPT Accounts for Practical Use
Seocho-gu Implements AI in All Departments, Enhancing Work Efficiency and Civil Services
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) is applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology across its operations. Since February, the district has introduced paid ChatGPT accounts, a generative AI tool, to all 60 departments including district offices and community service centers, utilizing them in practical work.
The district conducts regular AI training twice a week for employees to efficiently use the distributed ChatGPT accounts for appropriate tasks. More than 100 employees participated in the special lecture held on the 27th of last month.
Staff members quickly search for relevant laws and precedents needed for administrative actions using ChatGPT, and use ‘Cursor,’ an AI tool that assists programming tasks, to perform data analysis without complex coding.
The district is also promoting pilot projects to automate simple repetitive tasks with AI. Preparations are underway for automating the collection of employee creative proposal materials and automating the input of ownership changes in certified copies of real estate registers.
The ‘AI Phone Memo’ introduced last month is another example of innovation achieved through AI. This service allows AI to receive civil complaint details when the civil service officer is absent or on another call, significantly improving the quality of civil service. Complainants no longer need to call multiple times until they connect with an officer, and officers can respond quickly based on the text summaries prepared by AI. It also enables leaving voice memos by phone during non-working hours such as nights or weekends, allowing 24-hour inquiries.
The ‘AI Phone Memo’ features include ▲setting for busy or away status ▲setting for lunch breaks, off-duty hours, and holidays ▲checking complainants’ voice memos as text ▲voice recording ▲and document saving.
The AI Phone Memo utilizes the latest AI voice recognition engine with STT (Speech to Text) technology to convert calls into text in real time, and natural language processing (NLP) technology to analyze recordings and automatically summarize only the important information. The district plans to pilot this service until August and expand it based on user satisfaction and performance analysis.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “Seocho-gu is adopting AI technology in administration with an innovative attitude, achieving service quality improvement and work productivity comparable to the private sector. We will continue to work creatively and efficiently using AI in various administrative fields and strive to provide better administrative services to residents.”
