Samjong KPMG and World Association of Women Directors Completely Revamp Outside Director Training Program

Consists of 7 Basic Courses and 6 Advanced Courses
Free Enrollment Available at Samjong KPMG Academy

Samjong KPMG and the Korea chapter of the World Women Directors (WCD) announced on the 1st that they have completely revamped the ‘WCD-KPMG Outside Director Training Program.’


The two organizations signed a business agreement in 2021 and jointly developed an outside director training program to enhance the diversity and expertise of boards of directors.


The newly revamped comprehensive training program consists of 7 basic courses and 6 advanced courses. The basic courses cover essential topics that outside directors must know, including ▲Introduction to Accounting ▲Corporate Governance and the Role of Outside Directors ▲Legal Duties and Responsibilities Directors Should Know ▲Board of Directors and Compliance ▲AI (Artificial Intelligence) Governance and Cybersecurity.


The advanced courses provide in-depth learning focused on major board committees such as ▲Corporate Governance Committee ▲Internal Transactions Committee ▲Compensation Committee ▲Nomination Committee ▲Audit Committee ▲ESG Committee.


Experts from various fields participated as instructors to enhance the professionalism and effectiveness of the training, including Professor An Seong-hee from the Department of Accounting at Catholic University, Professor Kim Woo-chan from the Business School at Korea University, Professor Nam Hye-jung from the Business School at Dongguk University, Dean Ahn Soo-hyun of the Law School at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, as well as Samjong KPMG’s Executive Directors Kim Yoo-kyung and Lee Dong-geun.


Kwon Seon-ju, Chairperson of the WCD Korea chapter, said, “Securing diversity and expertise on boards of directors is an essential factor for sustainable corporate growth,” adding, “Through cooperation with Samjong KPMG, we will continuously support female outside directors to further strengthen their expertise and establish themselves as core leaders in corporate management.”


The ‘WCD-KPMG Outside Director Training Program’ is available for free through Samjong KPMG’s online education platform, ‘Samjong KPMG Academy.’


Meanwhile, the WCD Korea chapter was founded in 2016 as the 74th chapter worldwide and currently has about 160 members, including female directors (outside directors and inside directors such as CEOs) of domestic listed companies, leading the growth of female leaders in Korea. As a global partner of WCD, Samjong KPMG fully supports the growth of female leaders, including sponsorship and education for the WCD Korea chapter.
