Dispatching Personnel for Recovery Efforts... Expanding Material Support
Jeong Myeonggeun: "We Will Actively Help Restore Daily Life in the Affected Areas"
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is providing comprehensive support, including relief supplies, manpower, and donations, to help residents affected by the large-scale wildfire that occurred in the Yeongnam region.
Since the wildfire broke out, the city has dispatched the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps and volunteer personnel to expedite recovery in the affected areas. On the 23rd and 24th of last month, 12 members of the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps were sent to Sancheong-gun and Gimhae-si in Gyeongnam to assist with extinguishing remaining fires. On the 30th, 32 personnel from the Living Waste Council helped with recovery efforts in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk.

The city also provided material support. Hwaseong City delivered 20,000 KF94 masks and 200 tents to Andong-si, Gyeongbuk, while Hwaseong Urban Corporation supported the transport of relief supplies for disaster victims with a 3.5-ton truck. Additionally, 30 million KRW worth of essential goods, including 30,000 KF94 masks, 650 vitamin supplements, and 4,000 energy bars, were urgently sent to Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, a sister city, and 11 more members of the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps were dispatched. These supplies were prepared through cooperation among the Hwaseong Volunteer Center board members, Hwaseong Urban Corporation, and Dongtan City Hospital.
On the 28th, Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun of Hwaseong City, along with senior officials, visited Yeongyang-gun to pay tribute to the victims and delivered 5 million KRW in donations raised voluntarily to support the affected residents.
The city plans to continue its recovery support through fundraising among public institutions, delivery of donated goods, and additional dispatch of volunteers. In particular, earlier this month, Hwaseong City plans to deliver an additional 50 million KRW worth of practical daily necessities such as sportswear, sneakers, and rice cookers to Yeongyang-gun, and expand support in the affected areas in cooperation with local businesses and organizations.
Mayor Jeong said, "We embarked on this support with the hope that small acts of kindness will come together to create great strength for recovery," adding, "We will actively support the restoration of daily life for residents in the affected areas through additional relief supplies and fundraising efforts involving public institutions and citizens."
