U.S. forces have repeatedly conducted airstrikes around Sana, the capital of Yemen, continuing their attacks targeting the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels (self-proclaimed Ansar Allah).
According to the Associated Press on the 31st (local time), Al Masirah TV, operated by the Houthis, reported that multiple U.S. airstrikes occurred around Sana from the previous day until the morning of the 31st, resulting in at least one death and four injuries.
The U.S. military began attacking the Houthis on the 15th under orders from U.S. President Donald Trump. At that time, President Trump warned the Houthis, saying, "If you do not stop (the attacks), hell will rain down on you like never before." The airstrikes then reportedly killed at least 50 people and injured nearly 100.
On the 16th, the Houthis retaliated by launching missiles and unmanned drones targeting the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman. However, the U.S. military stated that they shot down 11 drones launched by the Houthis, and the missiles malfunctioned and fell into the sea, failing to reach the carrier. Subsequently, on the 28th, U.S. forces conducted dozens of airstrikes in Sana, Al Jawf, and Saada.
Since the outbreak of the Gaza Strip war in October 2023, the Houthis have attacked more than 100 vessels passing through the Red Sea, including Israeli, U.S., British, and other Western ships, under the pretext of supporting the Palestinian armed group Hamas. By January, two ships had sunk and four crew members had died.
