(G)I-DLE, TWICE's Chaeyoung, and Others Join in Donation Efforts
A series of donations to help recover from the wildfire damage in the Yeongnam region continued in the entertainment industry. On the 31st, according to the Community Chest of Korea, singer Lim Young-woong donated 400 million KRW on the 28th in the name of his fan club 'Young-woong Era.' Lim Young-woong contributed 300 million KRW, and his agency, Mulgogi Music, donated 100 million KRW. Lim Young-woong said, "I hope this can be even a small source of strength for those who have lost their daily lives and are struggling with firefighting efforts due to the wildfire."
Group BTS member V donated 200 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross. The funds will be used for relief activities for victims in the affected areas and for improving firefighters' working conditions. While serving in the military, V said, "I felt very heartbroken watching the news during evening roll call. Thinking that some of my comrades' families might have been affected made me even more concerned," and added, "I hope my donation can be of some small help."
(G)I-DLE members Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua each donated 100 million KRW, totaling 300 million KRW, to the Korean Red Cross. Previously, group members So-yeon and Mi-yeon also donated 100 million KRW each. TWICE's Chaeyoung donated 100 million KRW to the Community Chest of Korea, and 2PM's Wooyoung gave 100 million KRW to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. NCT's Jisung donated 50 million KRW to the Community Chest of Korea, and trot singer Jin Sung donated 30 million KRW to the Korean Red Cross. Singer K.Will donated all his appearance fees from events in the Daegu area to the child rights-focused NGO Good Neighbors. Good Neighbors is using the donations to support wildfire victims and children. Actress Jang Na-ra also donated 50 million KRW to World Vision.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, the wildfire that broke out in the Yeongnam region on the 22nd was fully extinguished the day before, ten days later.
