Special Exhibition at KCDF Gallery in Insadong (Entire Hall)
Looking Back on 25 Years of History
Showcasing Past Winners of the "Craftsman of the Year" Award
The Korea Craft and Design Foundation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 31st that it will hold a special exhibition titled "A Clear Journey, 25 Years" until April 20 at the KCDF Gallery in Insadong (entire hall) to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
This exhibition was prepared to review the major project history and future vision of the institution over the past 25 years. It closely examines the history of the foundation, which was launched as the Korea Craft Culture Promotion Institute in 2000, merged with the Korea Design Culture Foundation, and was reborn as the Korea Craft and Design Foundation in 2010.
From 2018 to the present, representative works of craft artists who have won the "Craftsman of the Year" award are showcased in one place. An archive book, including expert talks that review achievements in the fields of craft, design, and traditional culture as well as the institution’s future direction, will also be published.
Director Jang Dong-kwang said, "This exhibition will be a valuable opportunity to look back on the footsteps the foundation has taken and to explore visions, possibilities, and directions toward the future." He added, "We will spread the value of tradition, contemporary craft and design, and traditional culture, and promote various cultural and artistic projects where creators, researchers, and the public can communicate together, laying the groundwork to become a sustainable public institution."
