Silla University (President Heo Namsik) announced on the 31st that its Graduate School of Education and College of Education have signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with two national universities in the Philippines to cooperate on teacher education in the AI era.
On the 29th, Lee Eunhwa, Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Silla University, along with officials from the Graduate School of Education and the College of Education, visited Manila, Philippines to promote cooperation in teacher education for the AI era.
At the Meteor Hall of the Mabini Campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), the MOU signing ceremony for cooperation in teacher education in the AI era was held, attended by Lee Eunhwa, Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Silla University, Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, President of PUP, Dr. Leo, President of Caraga State University (CSU), and other key university officials.
Silla University and PUP agreed to cooperate for mutual development focusing on two main areas: △ exchange of faculty and students for teacher education in the AI era, and △ cooperation in online education. With CSU, they committed to strengthening practical cooperation in △ faculty and student exchanges related to teacher education, △ joint operation of educational service and practicum programs, and △ joint research to enhance teacher competencies in the AI era.
This MOU is expected to serve as an opportunity for the Graduate School of Education and College of Education at Silla University to expand their global education cooperation network, previously established with Japan, to English-speaking countries. In the long term, it is anticipated to play a significant role in building a foundation for attracting Filipino international students to Silla University.
Lee Eunhwa, Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Silla University, stated, "In the AI era, changes are required not only in teaching methods but also throughout the entire teacher training process," and added, "I hope that the signing of these MOUs with PUP and CSU, both national universities in the Philippines, will greatly contribute to strengthening the competencies of current teachers in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region as well as Silla University students."
