Last year, Dongducheon City actively promoted the ‘Assisted Reproductive Technology Support Project for Infertile Couples’ to alleviate the financial burden on infertile couples. The couple who recently gave birth to triplets also succeeded in conceiving through this support program and welcomed healthy triplets on the 25th.

The news of the triplets’ birth is giving hope to the citizens of Dongducheon. This is a positive example showing that the city’s childbirth encouragement policies are working successfully.

Despite the recent decline in birth rates, Dongducheon City is showing a more vibrant atmosphere with consecutive multiple births. In particular, the support policies for infertile couples are bearing tangible fruit, making this very meaningful.

A Dongducheon City official stated, “We will continue to expand support for infertile couples and do our best to create a childbirth- and child-rearing-friendly environment.”

Previously, on October 4th last year, quintuplets named Sae-him, Sae-chan, Sae-gang, Sae-byeol, and Sae-bom were registered healthy, bringing great joy to the citizens of Dongducheon. The birth of quintuplets through natural pregnancy was the first case in Korea, attracting significant attention both locally and nationwide.

The parents of the quintuplets, Mr. Kim Jun-young and Ms. Sagong Hye-ran, reside in Songnae-dong, Dongducheon City, and consider the healthy birth of the five lives a great blessing. In particular, the couple gave each child a name with a different meaning, hoping that their children will live strong and shining lives.

Mayor Park Hyung-deok of Dongducheon City said, “It is very special that so many lives have come to one family at the same time. We will continue to explore various ways to support this family,” and added, “I hope the children grow up bright and healthy.”
