on Youth NEET Experiences and Overcoming Processes
Korea University of Technology and Education announced on the 31st that Oh Taehee, a fourth-year student in the Department of Employment Service Policy, has published a research paper in a KCI-listed academic journal.
The paper, with Oh as the primary author, is titled "A Qualitative Meta-summary of Youth NEET Experiences and Overcoming Processes," and was published in Volume 35, Issue 1 of Educational Innovation Research on the same day.
After encountering the concerns and difficulties of NEET youth?those who are not in employment, education, or training?in the course "The Reality of Employment Support" taken in the second semester of 2023, Oh developed the course assignment into a research paper.
This study received high praise for its originality and academic contribution by conducting a multifaceted and in-depth qualitative analysis of youth NEET experiences and their overcoming processes, and expanding the discussion to social and structural perspectives.
Oh Taehee stated, "I am proud that my year-and-a-half-long exploration of NEET youth has come to fruition," and added, "I hope to continue growing as a professional who consistently helps socially marginalized groups and those struggling with employment."
Professor Lee Hyeeun, the supervising professor, commented, "It is very rare for an undergraduate to be the primary author of a paper in the field of social sciences, and Oh Taehee is an important example of the academic research potential of undergraduates. I will continue to work with students and do my best for the advancement of career counseling studies."
Meanwhile, students who complete the Department of Employment Service Policy curriculum can obtain a Level 1 Career Counselor certificate and receive a 5% bonus on the Ministry of Employment and Labor civil service exams (Employment and Labor Series, Career Counseling Series).
