Gwangju Buk-gu Council Concludes 301st Extraordinary Session

Review of 18 Items Including Supplementary Budget and Ordinances
Strengthening Budget Appropriateness and On-site Inspections

The Buk-gu Council of Gwangju has concluded its 301st extraordinary session. During this session, a total of 18 general agenda items were addressed, including the first supplementary budget bill for 2025. Of these, 14 were approved as originally proposed, while 4 were approved with amendments.


According to the Buk-gu Council on the 31st, the council pointed out issues regarding the appropriateness of certain budget items during the budget review process and proceeded to make reductions.

Out of the 30 million won budget submitted by the Administrative Support Division for the 'Tongjang Hanmaeum Event,' 10 million won was cut, and the 60 million won budget for the installation of an outdoor stage at Usan Park by the Parks and Green Spaces Division was also reduced. The Special Committee on Budget and Accounts then conducted the main review of the supplementary budget bill, and each standing committee was responsible for reviewing ordinances and plans related to general agenda items.


The Administrative and Autonomy Committee visited the proposed site for the Duam 3-dong Community Center to examine the feasibility of the project, while the Safety and Urban Committee inspected the sites for the Pyeongdume Wetland and the visitor infrastructure development project within Mudeungsan National Park.


Five-minute free speeches were also held during the session. At the first plenary session, council members Joo Soonil, Kim Hyungsoo, Han Yangim, and Son Hyejin addressed local issues, and at the second plenary session on the 28th, council members Lim Jongguk and Ko Youngim proposed alternatives for district administration issues.


Chairman Choi Moosong stated, "Through this supplementary budget, I hope to lay the foundation for revitalizing the local economy, protecting the socially vulnerable, and enhancing welfare," adding, "We will continue to focus on issues closely related to residents' lives and faithfully fulfill the council's roles of oversight and providing alternatives."
