The Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has designated the 'Heon 7 Hakbyeong 6.25 War Participation Memorial Monument', located in Busan Children's Grand Park in Busanjin-gu, as the Memorial Facility of the Month for April 2025.
Heon 7 Hakbyeong refers to 1,661 students from 14 schools in the Busan area who, during the Korean War, volunteered to enlist as the 7th class of the Army Military Police School to save their country. They underwent 40 days of military training and, upon graduation on October 4, 1950, were immediately assigned to various divisions and prisoner-of-war camps to carry out their duties. They played a key role in major missions such as the 'Hungnam Evacuation Operation', also known as the Miracle of Christmas, the 'Bank of Korea Gold Bullion Transfer', and the 'Management and Release of Prisoners of War and Anti-Communist Prisoners', demonstrating remarkable bravery on both the front and rear lines.
The Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs is carrying out projects to establish and designate memorial facilities in order to foster a culture of respect and honor for those who have dedicated themselves to the nation, and to ensure that their noble spirit of sacrifice and contributions are remembered and passed down in places close to everyday life.
