The stock price of Pan Entertainment, the production company behind the drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines," continues to show strength. As of 9:14 a.m. on March 31, Pan Entertainment was trading at 3,035 won, up 270 won (9.76%) from the previous trading day.
Previously, the Netflix series "When Life Gives You Tangerines" concluded its long journey by releasing its final Act 4 on March 28. The drama, which unfolds the lives of Aesoon (played by IU and Moon Sori) and Gwansik (played by Park Bogum and Park Haejoon), who were born in Jeju, across the four seasons, debuted at No. 4 in the global non-English series category with the release of Act 1 (episodes 1-4), climbed to No. 2 after Act 2 (episodes 5-8), and reached No. 1 following Act 3 (episodes 9-12). Even after the release of Act 4, viewers continued to praise it as "a drama that is perfect from start to finish."
Meanwhile, the Chinese state-run newspaper Global Times has unusually lavished praise on the Korean drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, raising expectations for a possible easing of the Korean Wave ban. The shift in attitude from Chinese media, which had previously viewed K-content negatively, is considered highly unusual. Investors are also paying attention to the fact that a state-run outlet has given such prominent coverage to a drama, rather than to one-off content like films or performances.
