UNICEF Korea Committee Provides 300 Million KRW Emergency Aid for Children Affected by Myanmar Earthquake

The Korea Committee for UNICEF (Chairman Jeong Gap-young) announced on the 31st that it will provide an emergency support of 300 million KRW for children affected by the earthquake in Myanmar and launch an emergency relief campaign.

Currently, UNICEF is supplying drinking water and hygiene products to 1 million children in the earthquake-affected areas, and essential health services such as vitamin A supplements to 2 million children under the age of five. In addition, emergency relief activities are being carried out to provide psychosocial services to 550,000 children and caregivers, and educational services to 920,000 children.

Jo Mi-jin, Secretary General of the Korea Committee for UNICEF, said, “The Korea Committee for UNICEF is swiftly providing emergency funds and conducting an emergency relief campaign to support children affected by the Myanmar earthquake who are at risk of survival,” adding, “We ask for warm interest and participation from many people for the children of Myanmar who are suffering from double and triple hardships due to years of civil war and now the earthquake damage.”
