Amid U.S. President Donald Trump's declaration to fully annex Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Greenland, dismissed the possibility of the U.S. acquiring Greenland on the 30th (local time).
On that day, Prime Minister Nielsen stated on Facebook, "President Trump says the U.S. will get Greenland. Let me make it clear. The U.S. will not get it (Greenland)."
He added, "We do not belong to anyone else," emphasizing, "We decide our own future."
President Trump has repeatedly revealed ambitions to annex Greenland, a Danish autonomous territory. In an interview with U.S. NBC News the previous day, he claimed, "We will get Greenland. Yes, 100%," and asserted, "There is a high possibility we can do so without using force." However, he also reaffirmed his stance by saying, "I am not taking anything off the table," indicating that he might use force to annex Greenland.
Earlier, on the 28th, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, who visited Greenland, claimed that Denmark has not properly invested in Greenland's security.
