BBS Gwangju Buddhist Broadcasting, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, held a ceremony for relocating its headquarters and the inauguration of its new president, Choi Gapryul.
According to BBS Gwangju Buddhist Broadcasting on the 30th, the relocation and inauguration ceremony held on the 28th was attended by over 300 people, including Sangwol Boseon, the Supreme Patriarch of Daheungsa, the main temple of the 22nd district of Jogye Order, Muja, the head monk of Songgwangsa, the main temple of Jogye Chongnim, Mugong, the head monk of Baekyangsa, the main temple of the 18th district, Soung, the president of the Gwangju Buddhist Association, Wooseok, the head monk of Saseongam (Chairman of the Gwangju Buddhist Broadcasting Operations Committee), Seo Jinyoung, President of BBS Buddhist Broadcasting, Kang Gijung, Mayor of Gwangju, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Democratic Party National Assembly members Shin Jeonghun, Joo Cheolhyeon, Jeon Jinsook, Jo Incheol, Min Hyeongbae, Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, Kim Byeongnae, Mayor of Nam-gu, Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, Park Byeonggyu, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, Han Sangwon, President of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and others.
The event began with the Threefold Refuge and the Heart Sutra recitation, followed by the company flag handover, commendations for 30-year employees, Dharma talk by Supreme Patriarch Boseon, words of encouragement, congratulatory speeches, the Four Great Vows, celebratory rice cake cutting, unveiling of the new building signboard, and a tour of the new headquarters.
President Choi presented plaques of appreciation to Jo Gijong, General Director, Kim Hongbeom, Head of Business, and Choi Kangil, Head of Technology, all of whom have served for 30 years.
Choi Gapryul, the new president of BBS Gwangju Buddhist Broadcasting, said, "Since its launch on March 1, 1995, Gwangju Buddhist Broadcasting has dedicated itself as the only public-interest broadcaster in the Buddhist community for the past 30 years, delivering the teachings of Buddha and serving as a spiritual guide for the local community. With the relocation to the new headquarters, we aim to reach our listeners and viewers more closely through various platforms such as terrestrial radio, portals, and social media like YouTube."
Sangwol Boseon, Supreme Patriarch of Daheungsa, said in his congratulatory Dharma talk, "Now is an era where the temple altar fits in the palm of your hand, and through the BBS Buddhist Broadcasting channel, anyone can access the truth of Buddha without alteration. I hope Gwangju Buddhist Broadcasting will fulfill its role as a beacon of truth, healing minds and purifying the world through its Dharma propagation."
Soung, President of the Gwangju Buddhist Association, said, "I hope Gwangju Buddhist Broadcasting will become an ocean of compassion through light and the sound of Dharma. I wish it will be reborn as a broadcaster that becomes a light in life, a Buddhist hymn, and a source of sharing, blooming like a lotus."
Seo Jinyoung, President of BBS Buddhist Broadcasting, said, "Buddhist Broadcasting is strengthening its TV, radio, and new media content production capabilities through cooperation between the Seoul headquarters and seven regional stations nationwide.
