On the afternoon of the 28th, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, conducted an on-site inspection of fire-prone areas within Suraksan Mountain.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok, accompanied by staff from related departments and wildfire firefighting specialists, focused on inspecting vulnerable areas with a high risk of wildfire on foot, while also conducting drone inspections linked to an AI-based wildfire monitoring platform.
He also checked the operational status of the black box-type CCTV installed at Byeokun Badminton Court and inspected the management condition of the high-pressure water hose storage box for wildfire firefighting located near Yeombulsa Temple, ensuring a prompt response system in case of wildfire occurrence.
Within Nowon-gu, there are four mountains: Suraksan, Bulamsan, Yeongchuksan, and Choansan. The district has designated the period from January 24 to May 31, 2025, as the spring wildfire caution period, focusing on intensive response due to the high risk of wildfire during this time.
Currently, the Spring Wildfire Prevention Headquarters is in operation, conducting wildfire surveillance activities on weekends and at night, focusing on major hiking trails and walking paths, together with wildfire watchers, voluntary disaster prevention groups, and safety patrol teams. Additionally, proactive measures such as spraying eco-friendly wildfire retardants in vulnerable areas are being implemented with full effort.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu stated, “Since even a small spark can lead to a major disaster, pre-inspection and prevention are of utmost importance,” adding, “With the recent continuation of dry spring weather, we will remain vigilant and do our best in wildfire prevention and response.”
