Export Contracts Worth $1 Million Signed at Food Expo
Jeollanam-do's Support for Booth Installation and Airfare Played a Key Role
Jeollanam-do, in cooperation with the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, participated in the 'China Chengdu Food and Drinks Fair (CFDF)' held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, achieving export contracts worth $1 million and export consultations amounting to $4.59 million, it announced on the 29th.
The China Chengdu Food and Drinks Fair has been held since 1955 and is the largest food expo in the western inland region of China. With more than 400,000 buyers and visitors participating each year, it is expected to greatly help in pioneering export markets in the western inland region of China in the future.
At this year's expo, which was held for three days until the 27th, Jeollanam-do operated the Jeonnam Agro-Fisheries Food Pavilion.
The participating companies from Jeollanam-do were Seogwang Food Agricultural Cooperative Corporation (Yuja tea), Garimi Co., Ltd. (roasted seaweed, seasoned seaweed, dried seaweed), Pureunjeong Food Co., Ltd. (aloe beverage, abalone porridge, abalone seaweed soup, abalone curry), and Gabofarms Co., Ltd. (pear juice, bellflower pear juice), totaling four companies.
These companies showcased the excellence of Jeonnam’s agro-fisheries products to local buyers and consumers through one-on-one export consultations and product tasting events.
Among the four companies that participated in the B2B export consultation, Pureunjeong Food Co., Ltd. signed a $1 million export contract with Shanghai Qianyi Trading Co., Ltd. for seasoned seaweed, seaweed flakes, and sea mustard, while Garimi Co., Ltd. signed an MOU with Haoyu (Chengdu) International Trading for $1.2 million worth of gimbap seaweed, recording a total of 27 consultations with a value of $4.59 million.
Jeollanam-do actively supported the participating companies by providing booth installation and operation support, buyer matching and consultation interpretation, exhibition product transportation costs, and round-trip airfare support (50%, one person per company), thereby facilitating their entry into overseas markets.
This participation in the expo was a follow-up measure to the high-level talks held during the vice governor's visit to China in November last year, commemorating the 20th anniversary of friendly exchanges between Jeollanam-do and Sichuan Province.
