The 'Mobile On-Site National Cancer Screening Counseling Center' was established to raise awareness about the importance of early national cancer screening and to encourage active participation, thereby increasing the screening rate among residents.
The on-site mobile counseling center is operated from February to November on the fourth Wednesday of each month, focusing on multi-use facilities in the region such as Donghae Line stations and senior welfare centers. Public health center staff in charge of the national cancer screening project and professional personnel visit residents directly to provide various health information, receiving positive responses from the community.
On this day, the mobile counseling center was held at the Jeonggwan Senior Welfare Center for around 250 welfare center users and citizens. Through one-on-one customized counseling, they provided information on the 10 rules for cancer prevention, guidance for eligible participants, and the importance of early cancer detection and screening programs. Counseling and information were also provided on national cancer screening, raising awareness about early detection.
An official from the Gijang County Public Health Center said, "Cancer can be diagnosed and treated early through lifestyle improvement and preventive activities. We hope residents will show active interest in the national cancer screening program," and added, "We will pursue various support measures to promote cancer prevention and healthy living among Gijang residents."
This year's national cancer screening offers free screening for six major cancers (stomach, liver, colorectal, breast, cervical, and lung cancer) for those born in odd-numbered years. In addition, liver and colorectal cancer screening can be done every six months and one year, respectively, regardless of birth year.
The National Health Insurance Service sends screening notices to eligible individuals, and both eligibility and screening institutions can be checked on the websites of the National Health Insurance Service and the Gijang County Public Health Center.
Additionally, the Gijang County Public Health Center is conducting various activities such as cancer early screening promotion and cancer prevention education tailored to local characteristics. It also provides diverse healthcare services for medically vulnerable low-income groups, including support for medical expenses for cancer patients and non-covered expenses for medical aid recipients.
