Gwangyang Gwangyeong Library in Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that it will host the "Visiting Author Lecture" for Jeollanam-do Book of the Year on April 19 at 10 a.m. in the library's education room.
The "Visiting Author Lecture" is a program promoted by the Jeollanam-do Provincial Library to foster the humanities literacy of residents and to spread a culture of reading. In Gwangyang City, Gwangyeong Library was the only institution selected as the organizer.
For this lecture, author Kim Dano, who wrote "Choeagui Choiae," the Jeollanam-do Book of the Year in the children's category, will share the background and process of writing the book under the theme "The Feeling of Thinking Someone Is Special," as well as answer questions that young readers may have.
In addition, before the lecture, the library will run a pre-reading guidance program called "Deep Reading of Choeagui Choiae" to introduce the book to children and help them prepare for the meeting with the author.
"Choeagui Choiae" is a children's story that vividly depicts the sweet experiences of love, friendship, and growth as thirteen-year-olds go through the four seasons. The book offers deep empathy and excitement to children for whom friendships are especially important.
Kim Mira, the library director, said, "I hope this meeting with the author will be a special experience where participants can communicate closely with the author and hear the stories behind the work. I also expect it will be an enjoyable time for everyone to read the Book of the Year, talk with friends, and better understand each other."
The lecture is open to everyone from elementary students to adults, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10 a.m. on the 31st. Citizens who wish to participate can apply through the Gwangyang City Library website or by phone.
