The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 28th that approximately 1,000 troops and 49 helicopters have been deployed to extinguish the large-scale wildfires in the Gyeongsang Province area.

A Ministry of National Defense official stated this during a meeting with reporters on the same day. It was reported that the deployed helicopters included those from the United States Forces Korea. The official also added, "There are about 2,500 reserve personnel being prepared under the 2nd Operational Command, and approximately 9 helicopters under the Ground Operations Command are being prepared for additional deployment."
As of now, the cumulative number of military personnel deployed for wildfire suppression is about 6,300, with approximately 260 helicopters. The Ministry of National Defense official said, "We are prepared to deploy an additional 1,800 personnel from units such as the Special Warfare Command and the 2nd Rapid Response Division."
