Doosan Enerbility Wins 320 Billion KRW Gas Turbine Order for Yeosu Natural Gas Power Plant

Completion Scheduled for 2028
Second Contract with Korea Western Power

Doosan Enerbility announced on the 28th that it has signed a supply contract worth 320 billion KRW with Korea Western Power (KWP) for the main equipment of the Yeosu Natural Gas Power Plant. This contract is significant as it is a repurchase based on KWP’s experience of operating Korea’s first gas turbine for over 15,000 hours at the Gimpo Combined Heat and Power Plant.

At the signing ceremony held on the 28th at Signiel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Lee Jung-bok, President of KWP, Jeong Yeon-in, Vice Chairman of Doosan Enerbility, Son Seung-woo, Head of Power Service BG, and other officials from both companies attended. The Yeosu Natural Gas Power Plant is an eco-friendly power plant replacing the aging Taean Unit 3, constructed as a 500MW-class facility within the Myodo Port Redevelopment Zone in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, in accordance with the government’s Basic Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand. It is a standard combined cycle demonstration project aiming for the highest power generation efficiency in Korea.

Through this contract, Doosan Enerbility will supply a 380MW-class H-class ultra-large gas turbine, steam turbine, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) by 2028. The H-class turbine is a high-efficiency model with an inlet temperature exceeding 1500℃. The contract also includes an emergency response obligation clause for immediate action upon abnormal signs and provisions for regular training services to enhance the power plant’s technical capabilities, reflecting a full-cycle partnership covering supply, operation, maintenance, and education.

Jeong Yeon-in, Vice Chairman of Doosan Enerbility, said, “It is very meaningful that KWP, which has verified performance through actual operation, has chosen Doosan Enerbility’s gas turbines again. We will continue to strengthen full-cycle partnerships with our customers and actively promote the export of Korean gas turbines.”

Doosan Enerbility succeeded in domestic production of large gas turbines for power generation in 2019 and jointly developed the ‘380MW-class Korean Standard Gas Combined Cycle Model’ with over 340 domestic industry, academia, and research institutions. Additionally, it is developing a 400MW-class ultra-large hydrogen combustion turbine with a target completion in 2027.
