Sancheong-gun was declared a special disaster area after a wildfire broke out in the Sicheon-myeon area on the 21st. In response, the Busan Ulsan Gyeongnam headquarters of the National Health Insurance Service provided 7 million won in relief funds as a proactive support measure.
The delivery of the support funds took place on the 26th at the Jinju Sancheong branch of the National Health Insurance Service, with branch manager Jeong Seungwon and Park Heesoon, president of the Gyeongnam branch of the Korean Red Cross, in attendance. The support funds are expected to provide practical help by assisting the livelihood stability of affected residents and being delivered to the bereaved families of the deceased.
In addition, after learning that about 130 children and staff from Ulsan Child Care Center, a partner institution of the foundation's Haneulban Warehouse Kids program, evacuated due to a wildfire in Eonyang-eup, Ulju-gun, branch manager Park Sangwoo of the Ulju branch visited the center and delivered 3 million won in emergency support for the children’s meals and other needs.
Jo Joonhee, head of the regional headquarters, said, "We express our deepest condolences to those who lost their lives during the wildfire suppression process," and added, "We hope this small support will help the local residents affected by the sudden wildfires, and the Busan Ulsan Gyeongnam headquarters will continue to fulfill its responsibility as a public institution that shares warm support with the local community."
