Raising Awareness Through Wildfire Prevention Campaign
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam successfully concluded the "2025 Tree Sharing Event" on the 28th, with many citizens participating at a total of four locations including the Meeting Square at Changwon Sports Park.
This event was held simultaneously from 10 a.m. at the Meeting Square of Changwon Sports Park, Seohang Neighborhood Park in Masanhappo-gu, Masan Baseball Stadium, and the parking lot of Gwangseokgol Rest Area in Jinhae-gu. A total of 15,000 trees, including mini roses, jujube trees, plum trees, Osmanthus fragrans, and hydrangeas, were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with three trees per person.
As the wildfire crisis alert was raised to "Severe," the city also conducted a wildfire prevention campaign. Through the campaign, guidelines for actions to take in case of a wildfire and prevention rules were provided, raising citizens' awareness of wildfire disasters.
Changwon Mayor Hong Nam-pyo said, "Although many forests that our ancestors have nurtured for a long time are being damaged nationwide due to large wildfires, let us all work together to restore green forests for future generations by planting the trees distributed today."
