Hyundai Motor Group Unveils SW Brand 'PleoS'... Establishing Car App Market

Next-Generation OS and Infotainment Platform Unveiled at Hyundai Motor Group Developer Conference on the 28th
Korean-Style Vehicle App Market to Be Established
Strengthening Collaboration with Partners Including Samsung, Google, and Uber

# When a driver approaches the car, it recognizes the smartphone inside the bag and identifies who they are. Once automatically logged into the personalized profile, the seat position is adjusted accordingly, and navigation routes are recommended considering the usual driving habits. While driving to the destination, if the driver says to the generative AI, "Check the vehicle status," the vehicle autonomously inspects its condition and even makes a one-stop reservation at the service center.

Hyundai Motor Group officially announced a software (SW)-dedicated brand and revealed a strategy to establish a Korean-style vehicle app market to leap forward as a software-centric mobility tech company.

On the 28th, Song Chang-hyun, head of Hyundai Motor AVP Division, officially unveiled the new mobility software brand and technology platform called 'Pleos' at the Hyundai Motor Group Developer Conference held at COEX in Seoul.

President Song stated, "Hyundai Motor Group is building the foundation for cloud mobility realization, including E&E architecture, OS, UX, AI, and partnerships, and will continue to create and advance an open mobility ecosystem together with developers, partners, and local governments."

Additionally, President Song introduced the vehicle control operating system 'Pleos Vehicle OS' and the next-generation infotainment system 'Pleos Connect.'

First, the new OS is designed to operate vehicles in a software-centric manner, based on electronic and electrical architecture, supporting continuous vehicle connectivity and updates as a core technology. The electronic and electrical architecture introduced in SDVs (Software-Defined Vehicles) reduces the number of controllers inside the vehicle by 66%, cutting costs and reducing vehicle weight.

Moreover, a generative AI-based voice assistant called 'Gleo AI' is applied to provide personalized services. Hyundai Motor Group plans to apply Pleos Connect starting with new vehicles launching from the second quarter of next year and aims to equip over 20 million vehicles by 2030.

Furthermore, Hyundai Motor Group announced a roadmap to implement 'Level 2+' autonomous driving by the end of 2027. They plan to continuously optimize model lightweighting on camera and radar-based perception and AI deep learning judgment structures, enhancing performance through vehicle-optimized NPUs (Neural Processing Units) and large-scale training infrastructure.

Hyundai Motor Group also revealed plans to operate an app market where anyone can freely develop and distribute vehicle apps. Developers can directly register apps on the app market, undergo review, and distribute them, while users can download and update vehicle apps just like installing apps on their smartphones.
