The Shinhan Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation (Shinhan Foundation) held the '10th Regular General Assembly' on the 27th at the Shinhan Central Training Center in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. This assembly was organized to commemorate the foundation's 10th anniversary, reflecting on the achievements of the past decade and sharing visions and strategies for sustainable growth going forward.
During the first part of the ceremony, commendations and plaques of appreciation were awarded to eight individuals recognized as 'Contributors to the Registration of Cultural Heritage in Daejeon City' for their efforts in preserving and inheriting the historical value of the Shinhan movement. Additionally, 34 corporations and one individual who newly joined the Honors Club were honored to acknowledge their commitment.
In the second part, the main session reviewed and approved ▲ the 2024 business performance and settlement report ▲ the 2025 business plan and budget ▲ by-elections for executives and the election of new executives. Through this, the foundation strengthened the stability and professionalism of its operations and laid the groundwork for concretizing sustainable social contribution strategies.
Last year, the Shinhan Foundation achieved a cumulative donation amount of 65 billion KRW, based on active participation from credit unions and their employees nationwide. Of this, 5.4 billion KRW was invested in social contribution projects during 2024 alone, providing practical support to approximately 44,000 neighbors across the country.
A representative of the Shinhan Foundation stated that these achievements have significantly increased the foundation’s contribution to social contribution activities for local communities. Notably, the total donations returned to local communities over the past 10 years amounted to about 45.6 billion KRW. This is regarded as playing a crucial role in realizing the foundation’s continuously pursued value of 'togetherness.' The significance of these achievements goes beyond mere financial support, greatly contributing to community development and enhancing communal spirit.
The Shinhan Foundation has documented its achievements over the past decade through various commemorative projects. These include ▲ photo and video contests of social contribution activities involving employees ▲ donation activation campaigns ▲ publication of a 10th-anniversary white paper and hosting commemorative events. These efforts aim to promote communication among employees and to widely publicize the value of social contribution.
This year, the Shinhan Foundation declared 2024 as the 'first year of qualitative growth through business advancement and expansion,' planning to establish systematic business operation measures such as expanding collaboration with external organizations, strengthening systems, and formulating mid- to long-term development strategies. Furthermore, together with credit unions nationwide, it will actively carry out community-based social contribution projects worth a total of 6.6 billion KRW, reinforcing the essential values of 'eliminating welfare blind spots' and 'creating sustainable local communities.'
Kim Yunsik, Chairman of the Shinhan Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation, stated, "Over the past 10 years, the foundation has worked hard on public interest projects aimed at eliminating welfare blind spots and fostering community growth. We will focus on establishing more systematic strategies and leading efficient and stable growth in preparation for the next 100 years."
Meanwhile, established in 2014, the Shinhan Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation is Korea’s first donation cooperative operated solely by voluntary donations from credit unions and their employees nationwide. As of the end of last year, it has raised a cumulative donation amount of 65 billion KRW. Under the themes of 'Shared Economy, Talent Development, and Local Sharing,' it conducts various social contribution activities, contributing to the welfare improvement of low-income and vulnerable groups and the sustainable development of local communities.
