Dobong-gu Introduces Fire Prevention System for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Pilot Operation of Six Outdoor EV Charging Spots at District Office
High-Resolution Thermal Imaging Cameras Detect Fires by Pixel Ratio

Dobong-gu Introduces Fire Prevention System for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is introducing a fire prevention system at electric vehicle charging stations.

The district plans to first conduct a pilot operation targeting the charging station within the district office building, and then review the possibility of expanding the system based on the operational results.

This pilot project targets six electric vehicle charging spots in the outdoor parking lot on the first floor of Dobong-gu Office.

At these six charging spots, patented high-resolution thermal imaging cameras will be installed. The cameras issue a 'fire warning' alarm if the pixel ratio exceeding 150℃ surpasses 50%, and a 'fire occurrence' alarm if it exceeds 80%.

Detected fire signs are transmitted in real-time to related departments such as the comprehensive control room on the first floor of Dobong-gu Office. After confirming the warning and occurrence alarms, the related departments take measures for fire suppression, including contacting the fire authorities.

Within the parking lot, flashing lights and voice alarms are activated to alert the surroundings of the fire situation and assist residents in immediate evacuation.

The district plans to complete the system installation by April and start full-scale operation from May.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "After thoroughly analyzing the effectiveness, we will consider expanding the application to all electric vehicle charging facilities in the area," adding, "As the supply of electric vehicles rapidly increases, we will implement smart administration that matches this by expanding safety infrastructure."
