Copyright Protection Agency Blocks Access to Thai Sites Distributing K-Content Illegally

"A Result Achieved Through Cooperation with Institutions and Companies in the United States and Thailand"

The Korea Copyright Protection Agency announced on the 27th that it has blocked access to three websites that illegally distributed K-content in Thailand.

Last November, the agency identified these sites and requested access blocking from Thai authorities. In cooperation with the Motion Picture Association of America, the Thai Film Association, and the Thai Intellectual Property Office, follow-up measures were taken, resulting in a court order to block access issued by a local Thai court on the 26th. In July of last year, the agency also led the blocking of access to a Thai site that distributed over 6,400 illegal content items, in collaboration with the Motion Picture Association of America and others.

Park Jeong-ryeol, head of the Korea Copyright Protection Agency, said, "This is a meaningful result achieved through cooperation among key institutions and companies in Korea, the United States, and Thailand," adding, "We will further expand the scope of cooperation not only through access blocking but also by supporting investigations and promotional activities."
