Yangsan Cancels This Year's Mulgeum Cherry Blossom Festival

Full Cancellation Decision Made in Light of Nationwide Wildfires

Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, announced the cancellation of the '2025 Mulgeum Cherry Blossom Festival,' which was scheduled to be held over two days from March 29 to 30.

The Mulgeum Cherry Blossom Festival, organized by the Mulgeum Cherry Blossom Festival Promotion Committee, had originally planned a variety of vibrant programs centered around the cherry blossom path in Hwangsan Park, including performances by invited singers and a fireworks show.

However, after concluding wildfire response efforts at Daunsan, Yangsan City held an emergency meeting and decided that it would be inappropriate to proceed with the festival while wildfires continue to cause damage across the country. As a result, all scheduled events have been canceled.

Accordingly, temporary facilities installed in Hwangsan Park for the festival will be dismantled, and the planned traffic control (car-free street) on the cherry blossom path, which was set to begin on Friday, the 28th, will also not be implemented.

Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "It is heartbreaking to witness the devastation caused by wildfires nationwide. Although it was a difficult decision considering the citizens who were looking forward to the festival, I ask for your understanding, as we have decided to cancel the event in solidarity with those affected by wildfires in other regions."
