A man in his 50s who stabbed his sleeping mother with a weapon was arrested by the police.
On the 27th, the Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on the previous day on charges of attempted parricide.
Mr. A is accused of stabbing his mother, Ms. B, in her 70s, twice with a weapon at around 4:30 a.m. the previous day at his home located in Sinjeong-dong, Yangcheon-gu.
It was investigated that Mr. A was living alone with his mother, and Ms. B reportedly informed her daughter of the incident by phone. The police, who responded to the daughter's report, arrested Mr. A at his residence on the spot.
Ms. B was immediately transported to the hospital, and it was confirmed that her life was not in danger. The police are investigating the specific circumstances of the incident based on statements from related parties and applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A the previous day.
