According to the legal community on the 27th, the prosecution submitted a notice of appeal to the Seoul High Court Criminal Division 6-2 (Presiding Judges Choi Eun-jung, Lee Ye-seul, and Jung Jae-oh), which handled the case, on the same day.

Accordingly, the trial of Lee's case will be finally reviewed again by the Supreme Court. The Seoul High Court must send the litigation records and evidence to the Supreme Court within 14 days from the date of receiving the notice of appeal. Afterwards, the Supreme Court must send a notice of receipt of litigation records to the prosecution and others, and the prosecution must submit a statement of reasons for the appeal to the Supreme Court within 20 days after receiving it.

The second trial court acquitted Lee the day before, ruling that his statements denying acquaintance with the late Kim Moon-gi, former Head of Development Division 1 at Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and his claim that the change in land use designation of the Korean Food Research Institute site in Baekhyeon-dong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, was due to pressure from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, were not false statements.
